Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is universally hailed as a triumphant expression of the human spirit—a composition that transcends time, culture, and even adversity. But Dr. Weary challenges us to take a broader view. What if we examine this masterwork through the lens of contemporary artistry? Enter Taylor Swift—a storyteller whose songs resonate with millions, weaving personal narrative into cultural commentary.
Through this lecture, Dr. Weary will explore how both artists use music to navigate the complexities of human emotion, frame stories of struggle and resolution, and inspire listeners to reimagine what’s possible. Whether you’re a lifelong classical aficionado or a devoted Swiftie, this is your opportunity to discover surprising connections between two seemingly different—but deeply kindred—musical voices.
