Side-by-Side & Youth Strings Concert

The Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s annual Side-by-Side concert brings together talented high school student performers from across the region to rehearse and perform alongside our professional MSO musicians under the direction of Music Director Elizabeth Schulze. The program also features middle school students from the Maryland Symphony Youth Strings (MSYS), a collaborative initiative with public school music educators serving Frederick and Washington Counties.

This special performance highlights both classical and contemporary repertoire and offers a meaningful glimpse into the dedication, growth, and artistry of young musicians as they share the stage with seasoned professionals. From first rehearsal to final bow, it is a powerful reminder that musical excellence can flourish at every level when students are supported and encouraged.
