The Art of Sound brings the season to a close with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, presented in Ravel’s dazzling orchestration. Inspired by a gallery of paintings, the music transforms visual images into vivid orchestral color.
The program begins with Pierné’s energetic Ramuntcho Suite and continues with Chausson’s lyrical Poème, performed by violinist Claire Wells. Ravel’s virtuosic Tzigane adds brilliant flair before the orchestra turns to the sweeping musical landscapes of Pictures at an Exhibition.
Together these works form a vivid musical journey that celebrates imagination, color, and the expressive power of the orchestra.
