The MSO’s commitment to excellence is supported by the generosity of individuals who are personally committed to promoting, preserving, and supporting the arts. In recognition of these patrons, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra has created the Heritage Society.
The MSO is at a critical juncture in its history and growth. As a cornerstone of cultural enrichment in the greater Western Maryland region, the MSO plays an integral role in educating, entertaining, and connecting people through the power of music. However, to ensure its continued impact and sustainability, we must address pressing financial challenges. Establishing a strong endowment holds the key to the MSO’s perpetuity, providing a stable and reliable source of income to support its operations, programming, and outreach efforts. With an endowment in place, we can weather financial uncertainties, invest in innovative initiatives, and continue to serve as a vital cultural institution for generations to come, fulfilling its vision of bringing music to everyone and fostering stronger, more connected communities.
An effective Heritage Society is important for the MSO. The effects of a strong endowment will be impactful, as it:
- Creates an ongoing source of income. Because funds within the Heritage Society are permanent, this pool of money provides a reliable source of income in perpetuity.
- Enhances stability and prestige. Our well-managed Heritage Society and endowment fund sends a message of planned, long-tern stability, fiscal responsibility and financial viability.
- Provides independence. Contributions to our Heritage Society can provide a measure of independence from economic, governmental and political forces.
- Builds a pipeline of future gifts. Our thriving Heritage Society builds a pipeline of gifts that will mature in the future. By attracting deferred gifts we are enhancing the future financial security of the MSO by positioning ourselves to enjoy increasingly larger gifts in the future
We invite you to consider becoming a member of the Heritage Society through…
- Outright Gift A donation of cash, securities or personal property.
- Living Trust A trust established to take effect during the donor’s lifetime.
- Bequest in Will A gift made by naming the MSO in a donor’s will.
- Life Insurance Gift Naming the MSO named as the beneficiary of an established policy.
- Retirement Gift Plan Naming the MSO as remainder beneficiary after a donor’s passing.
- Real Estate Gift Donation of real property in full or with a retained life estate.
- Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust MSO receives the remainder after income is paid.
