Meeting Musical Minds
Have you ever heard a piece of music that moved you so much you needed to know more? Or listened to a song and wondered why it sounded the way it did? At MSO On the Rocks you can find the answers to some of those questions with a behind the scenes conversation!
Each event will feature a discussion-based interview where you and a host get the opportunity to talk with a musical expert about that month’s featured topic. No one knows more about what you want to hear than you, so we encourage our interviewee to leave the slides at home and give you the opportunity to talk as a community instead. Whether you are a long-time symphony patron or someone who just wants to sate some curiosity, this is a great opportunity to meet others who have an appreciation for music and learn something new.
How it Works
On the Rocks is a relaxed, interview-style conversation between a musical expert and a host. Topics jump between musical genres, eras, and themes but always offer a conversation that builds from the basics, bringing unique perspectives and stories so everyone can learn something new. Each interview offers attendees plenty of opportunities to ask questions, join the discussion, or just sit back and enjoy as you eat and drink.

- When: One Tuesday each month in September, October, November, January, and February
- Location: Each event will be held in a different bar-style venue in the Hagerstown area
- Cost: $10 per person
- Included: Each ticket includes one drink or a selection of light fare. Announcements regarding selection will be made prior to each event based on venue and availability
