Kat Whitesides, a native of South Carolina, discovered her passion for music and her affinity for the violin at an early age. Kat is a member of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Apollo Chamber Orchestra and first violinist of the versatile N Street Quartet, which she co-founded with her husband, Erik. With over two decades of professional experience, Kat has become a fixture in the vibrant music scene of Washington, DC. She has played with Washington Concert Opera, Alexandria Symphony and Fairfax Symphony. Her passion for chamber music extends from Baroque violin to modern pop. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, Strathmore, Arena Stage, and is regularly sought-after to collaborate on projects ranging from Washington Bach Consort’s educational concert series to “The Queens Ball: Bridgerton Experience.” Beyond her performances, Kat is a dedicated music educator, having spearheaded the Strings program at the McLean School of Maryland with a steadfast commitment to inclusivity and innovation. Her advocacy for neurodivergent learners and her dedication to providing enriching musical experiences for all students underscore her belief in the transformative power of music education. Kat lives in the historic Mt. Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington, DC with her husband and two children who also share in her passion for music and the arts.
