For the sixth consecutive season, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra is providing free Masterworks Series concert tickets to elementary, middle and high school students as part of its Free Student Ticket Program. Public, private and home-schooled students from throughout the quad-state region are eligible to participate during the 2016-2017 Season.
This initiative is made possible by a grant from Susquehanna Bank, sole corporate sponsor this season, and through additional support from MSO Music Director Elizabeth Schulze, The Rotary Club of Hagerstown, and The Rotary Club of Long Meadows Foundation.
Music education has been a core mission of the MSO from the very beginning and the orchestra has no stronger advocate for building upon and strengthening that mission than its Music Director Elizabeth Schulze. "I am happy to partner with Susquehanna Bank, The Rotary Club of Hagerstown, and The Rotary Club of Long Meadows Foundation in providing free admission for all students to our Masterworks Series. It is essential that all of our young people have access to the very best in our culture. This is an opportunity to open doors not only to new ideas and sound worlds, but more importantly, to future educated and enlighten citizenry," states Schulze.
"We are blessed to support the MSO's Free Student Ticket Program," says Susquehanna's Assistant Vice President & Market Manager, Patrick Flickinger. "The performing arts plays an important role in developing our youth within the community, and it is our goal to ensure that all students have the resources in place to attend these great performances. Furthermore, we are fortunate to be home to the MSO, as it offers a unique cultural experience to not only the kids, but our employees and customers who live and work in the area."
Driving-age students must show a valid I.D. to receive a free K-12 Student or $5 College Ticket in person or to pick up previously purchased tickets at the Maryland Theater. Tickets for Students, as well as Children under 5 are also available online; simply choose your seats on the map, then select the appropriate price type for each ticket in the dropdown menu on the right. Questions can be directed to MSO Patron Services Manager, Lacey Nicolosi by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the MSO Box Office at (301) 797-4000 Ext. 102.
