Maryland Symphony Orchestra Will Present January and February Concerts Exclusively on MSO Live! Streaming Platform

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – January 11, 2022 – In consideration of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s declaration of a 30-day state of emergency, a record-high number of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations (as reported by Meritus Health CEO Maulik Joshi in a December 29 Health Advisory), and a recommendation of the Washington County government for citizens to avoid large indoor gatherings, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra will now present the previously scheduled January and February concerts exclusively in a virtual format on MSO Live!, the orchestra’s video streaming platform. There will be no live audience for either performance.

All subscribers and ticket holders will have the option to stream the performances for a period of seven days on over 1,000 devices including iOS, Android, MACs, PCs, and via Roku, Amazon Fire, Airplay, and Chromecast. Additionally, native apps can now be downloaded on Roku and Fire TV for easier viewing at home.

“Fortunately, the MSO team has been able to add video production to our skill set and we have already been offering streaming for more than a year. Patrons are able to enjoy an excellent viewing and listening experience from the comfort and safety of their own homes” said MSO Executive Director (and remote camera operator) Jonathan Parrish. “We use four high definition, broadcast quality cameras alongside a professional audio capture to make the MSO Live! experience compelling and available to anyone with an internet connection.”

The remainder of the MSO season, March through May, will continue as planned with a live audience at the Maryland Theatre. This temporary change is intended to protect the audience and musicians, while avoiding an increased strain on local healthcare professionals who continue to serve the community despite the risk to themselves and their families.

Tickets for the concert live stream are $29.99 per household. Tickets can be purchased online at watch.marylandsymphony.org or by calling the Box Office at 301-797-4000, Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

To access the concert live stream, patrons will need to create an account on the “MSO Live! Virtual Concert Hall” streaming platform at watch.marylandsymphony.org.  There is no charge to create an account; however, there is a per concert fee to view the various live performances on the platform.
