Created in
2002 with donations in loving memory of former MSO president Bennett
S. Rubin, and today fully funded thanks to the generosity of Mrs.
Bennett Rubin and the Maryland Symphony Orchestra Guild, the MSO
Music Scholarship Fund was developed to enhance and/or broaden
the musical experiences of qualified students in grades 9-12.
The scholarship, which is awarded each year on May 15 and August
15, is based on merit and/or need, and may be used to defray the
cost of musical experiences such as music instruction, music camp
programs, and instrumental repair instruction.
Applications
will be reviewed twice per year. Each applicant must submit the
following;

resume - Attach a one page, typed, resume listing activities,
awards received in and out of school, etc.
- Essay
- please type or write a brief description of why you would
like to receive a scholarship and how the funds would be utilized
(not to exceed 500 words)
- Recommendation
form completed by Music teacher/instructor (click

Deadline for submission of the application:
April 1st for the scholarship awarded on May 15th.
June 30th for the scholarship awarded on August 15th.

MSOMSF committee will review the eligibility of each applicant
and determine scholarship recipients based upon the MSOMSF requirements
set forth. Scholarship awards are subject to the availability
of funds in the MSOMSF. The MSOMSF does not discriminate on the
basis of gender, race, creed, sexual orientation, color, national
or ethnic origin, or physical disability in its awarding of this
scholarship.
