The Maryland Symphony Orchestra Announces New Board Members
Hagerstown, MD…..The Maryland Symphony
Orchestra Board of Directors has announced the results of Board elections
held during the June 27 Annual Meeting. New board members elected
to a three-year term are: Charles Driscoll, Shelby Penn-Ross, and
Sally Perryman.
Re-elected to three-year terms are John Baer, Deborah Bockrath, J.
Emmet Burke, Ph.D., J.D., April Dowler, George Drastal, Frederica
Erath, Brendan Fitzsimmons, Doris Lehman, Leslie Mills, Elizabeth
Morgan, Ph.D., James G. Pierné, Jeanette Rinehart, and Hugh
Talton, M.D.
Elected to the Executive Committee for a one-year term are: Brendan
Fitzsimmons, President; April Dowler, Vice President/President Elect;
Deborah Bockrath, Secretary; Bradley Pingrey, Treasurer/Finance Chair;
Thomas Newcomer, Assistant Treasurer; Marjorie M. Hobbs, Development
Chair; Phil Kelly, Marketing Chair; J. Emmet Burke, Nominating Chair;
Spence Perry, Personnel Chair; James G. Pierné, Endowment Chair;
Cassandra Wantz, Artistic Advisory Chair; Carolyn Brooks, Education
Chair; Ed Lough and Hugh Talton, Members-at-Large; and Judy Ditto,
Guild President.
The Board of Directors recognized the outstanding contributions of
outgoing President James Pierné by naming the Piano/Keyboard
chair the James G. Pierné Chair. Also recognized for their
dedication and contributions to the Symphony and the community were
outgoing members Barbara Henderson, James Holzapfel, Howard Kaylor,
John Newby, Paige Nitzell, and John Waltersdorf. Both Mr. Kaylor and
Mr. Waltersdorf were founding members of the MSO, and have served
on the Board since its inception in 1982.
The Maryland Symphony Orchestra, now in its 24th season, is the area’s
premiere professional orchestra, dedicated to providing musical performances
and programs that educate and entertain while enhancing the cultural
environment of Western Maryland and the surrounding region. |
