Maryland Symphony Orchestra Announces Ensembles in the Schools Performances

Hagerstown, MD…..The Maryland Symphony Orchestra announces its 2006 Ensembles in the Schools schedule, including the BrassWorks, StringSounds and WindWorks programs. These educational performances enhance the learning experience for area students by providing classroom concerts for elementary and middle school students, and are part of the MSO educational outreach efforts, which also includes the Citi Youth Concerts at the Maryland Theatre for area fourth graders, Kinder Konzerts for pre-schoolers, and the MSO Guild’s Symphony Saturdays for grades one through three.

BrassWorks brings MSO Brass Quintet performances to Washington County children in grades six through eight; the MSO String Quartet introduces students in grades one through three to stringed instruments with StringSounds. The MSO Woodwind Quintet performs for students in grades four and five through WindWorks, the newest addition to Ensembles in the School.

BrassWorks, StringSounds and WindWorks are sponsored by grants from the Bowman Board /Washington Country Historical and Fine Arts Trusts, the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, the City of Hagerstown, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Rotary Club of Downtown Hagerstown, the Rotary Club of Long Meadows Foundation, the Washington County Arts Council, and the Washington County Gaming Commission.
