The Maryland Symphony Orchestra Launches “Spotlight
on the MSO” Podcasts
The Maryland Symphony Orchestra has launched Spotlight
on the MSO, a series of podcasts which offer listeners an in-depth
look at the world’s best music and composers, interviews with
special guests and fascinating facts. Hosted by Mary Anne Ellifritz,
Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the MSO, Spotlight
on the MSO features “behind the music” interviews with
MSO Music Director Elizabeth Schulze, listening tips for both at home
and concert hall enjoyment, and answers to frequently asked questions.
The podcasts, which are presented in cooperation with Antietam Cable
Television and the Herald-Mail Newspapers, are part of the MSO’s
ongoing efforts to provide programs that educate and entertain while
enhancing the cultural environment of Western Maryland and the quad-state
region.
The premiere edition of Spotlight on the MSO is available at www.antpod.com,
on iTunes, and on the MSO website at www.marylandsymphony.org. The
podcast features Music Director Elizabeth Schulze on the challenges
and rewards of mounting the upcoming April 21 and 22 season finale
performances of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Tchaikovsky’s
Serenade for Strings, and includes Ms. Schulze’s thoughts
on working with the large cast of guest artists Carmina requires,
including the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, the Frederick Children’s
Chorus, soprano Julia Tuner-Cooke, tenor Scott Williamson and Alex
Helsabeck, baritone, as well as highlights of the 25th Anniversary
Season. Listeners can suggest story ideas and submit questions at
