MSO TO CELEBRATE MOZART’S 253rd BIRTHDAY
WITH BASH AT HEMPEN HILL BBQ BAR & GRILL
Hagerstown, MD—Even though the guest of honor—Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart—
won’t be attending his 253rd birthday celebration, loyal fans from around
the region won’t let that stop them from raising their glasses to toast
one of the world’s most beloved composers during the MSO’s
annual Mozart Bash.
The “Bash,” held in partnership with Hempen
Hill BBQ Bar & Grill in Fountain Head Plaza in Hagerstown,
will be held on Monday, February 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. Cost of admission is $25 which includes
mini-pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, salsa/chips, chicken
skewers, cheese platter with soda and iced tea. There
will be a cash bar.
About 14 years ago, MSO board member and diehard Mozart
fan Phil Kelly invited a few friends to join him in honoring
his favorite composer with a few beers, some good food and
plenty of Mozart tunes. An informal gathering of friends
has turned into an annual fundraiser for the MSO that also
includes live entertainment (all Mozart, all the time) door
prizes and a Mozart Trivia Contest presided over by MSO Music
Director Elizabeth Schulze.
Scheduled to perform is the North Hagerstown High School
Honors String Quartet and, returning by popular demand, The
Mozart Defects, a rock band made up of area musicians that
put a whole new twist on the music of Mozart. This
is one evening you don’t want to miss!
To make reservations or purchase tickets in advance, please
call 301-797-4000 or stop in at the MSO office at 30 W. Washington
Street. If purchasing tickets at the door only cash or
checks will be accepted. |
