BERNSTEIN West Side Story: Symphonic Dances
GABRIELA LENA FRANK Three Latin American Dances
RAVEL Daphnis and Chloe Suites, Nos: 1 and 2

The symphonic dances from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story communicate all the tension of the musical—the chaotic pace and the nervous vigor of urban life in America. Inspired by Bernstein, Frank’s music offers the traditional South American rhythms and harmonies from her multi-cultural heritage. And some of Ravel’s most passionate music can be found in the two orchestral suites originally written for the ballet, Daphnis and Chloe.
