Ensembles in the Schools

The Ensembles in the Schools program offers every first, second and third grade student the opportunity to participate in a series of three interactive assembly presentations about orchestral music.  MSO musicians form small string, wind and brass ensembles and teach large groups of students using a combination of familiar songs and great classical compositions,  The curricular objective of the program are to introduce student form diverse backgrounds to the instrument families found in the orchestra and to basic musical concepts such as rhythm, dynamics and pitch. The overall goal of the program is to improve participant’s musical awareness and to inspire them to get involved in the school’s fourth grade instrumental music program.
