35th Anniversary Celebration
As part of the "Fifth of Beethoven" concert on Saturday, May 13th, 2017, we invite concert attendees to join us for a celebration of 35 years of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. This event will take place in downtown Hagerstown in the Maryland Theatre courtyard and adjacent block of South Potomac Street. All patrons who have a ticket to the concert are welcome to join us for wine tastings featuring local wineries both before and after the concert, hors d'oeuvres, and birthday cake!

Saturday May 13th, 2017
4:00 PM - Maryland Theatre lobby doors open
4:30 PM - “35th Anniversary Celebration” begins with wine tasting and light hors d’ oeuvres in the courtyard of the MD Theatre and on South Potomac Street
5:00 PM - Prelude with Elizabeth Schulze & Guest Artist Yuliya Gorenman inside of the MD theatre
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - A Fifth of Beethoven concert inside the MD Theatre
8:00 PM - 10:00 PM - “35th Anniversary Celebration” in the courtyard of the MD Theatre and on South Potomac Street including hors d’ oeuvres and birthday cake. Full pours of wine will be available for purchase.
Parking:
Please visit our website at www.marylandsymphony.org to access address information for the MD theatre, parking garage options, and maps to plan your visit. Please keep in mind that South Potomac Street in front of the MD theatre will be closed for the event. You may need to plan for a detour route in order to utilize The Arts and Entertainment District Parking Deck.
Accessibility:
We recognize that a street closure for the event may change some patron’s typical entrance patterns to the theatre. Patrons who need assistance to enter the theatre have the option to be transported via golf cart by MSO volunteers. The drop off/golf cart pick up area will be located at the corner of Washington and South Potomac Street. Hagerstown Auxiliary Police will be directing traffic for those patrons wishing to utilize the accessibility assistance.
Wine Tasting & Alcohol Sales:
The wine tasting portion of the festival will begin at 4:30pm on South Potomac Street. Tastings will be free of charge. Patrons must show their concert ticket and Photo ID prior to being served. Once ticket and photo ID are verified patrons will receive a wristband. Full glasses of wine will be available for purchase. The MD Theatre concession stand will be open for purchasing beer and will follow the same ID verification practice.
Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages:
The “35th Anniversary Celebration” is free of charge to all patrons who purchased a ticket to the Saturday May 13th, 2017 performance of A Fifth of Beethoven. Additional beverage options include Fruit Infused Water and Raspberry Iced Tea. Sodas will be available for purchase by the MD Theatre inside the concessions area. Preceding the concert the MSO will offer Fresh Fruit with Pina Colada dip and a Gourmet Cheese Platter and Cracker Assortment. Following the concert, guests will be invited to enjoy Buffalo Chicken Dip, Crab Meat Stuffed Mushrooms, Shrimp Salad in Filo Shells, Crostini with Bleu Cheese Mousse with Roasted Red Pepper and Pine Nuts, and Rolled Red Grapes toasted with Pistachios. To finish the evening guests will be invited to indulge in a slice of birthday cake to celebrate 35 years of being YOUR community orchestra!
Restrooms:
Restrooms are located inside the MD Theatre and will be available throughout the event.
Will Call Tickets:
Will Call advanced ticket pickup will be available inside the lobby of the MD Theatre beginning at 4:00pm.
Event Seating:
There will be a limited number of chairs around the perimeter of the event. Please be mindful of those who may be in attendance who have a need to be seated. High top tables will be stationed around the winery tents on South Potomac Street for those to enjoy hors d’ oeuvres, birthday cake, and beverages.
